RECTANGULAR TWIN SPONGE (BROWN/ABRASIVE) – 17x11x7 – RECOMMENDED FOR CONCRETE AND EPOXY-BASED GROUT CLEANSING
Top quality sponge for professional applications. Ideal for cleansing after epoxy or concrete-based grouting.
It consists of two parts made of different materials: a synthetic mesh (“gnat”) portion to facilitate epoxy grout residues detachment, and a soft beige sponge portion for the subsequent surface washing.

Epoxy grouts | Epoxy grout is not soluble in cold water. Furthermore, it quickly crystallises on the sponge surface. Removing expoxy grouting residues requires rubbing with an appropriate sponge. On such sponge a layer of epoxy crystals will form rather quickly, which will need to be removed by a mechanical action (dragging the sponge onto a tiler bucket’s roller or border). Tile rinsing in this case is only aimed at facilitating the detachment and removal of the crystals residues which have already been previously scraped off. |
Specific application | Sponges for concrete-based grout cleansing are in this case counter-indicated for application on expoy grout, as they are too soft and prone to be attacked by the epoxy material. When used, the remain “stuck” onto the joint, and easily tear off. |
Other sponge types | To cleanse tiles after expoxy grouting various tools are used : cellulose sponges, synthetic-mesh “gnat” sponges and felts. The three different materials offer very similar efficiency and results. Choosing one or the others – on even material quality levels – is mainly a matter of preference and habitude. |
