HIGH QUALITY SHOWS | |
---|---|
Stem quality | Having a slightly larger diameter, the stem is firmly press-assembled into its tight handle receptacle. This, and a number of internal tiny flaps, prevent the handle to slide out or turn onto the stem at any time – a frequent inconvenient on lower quality/price trowels. |
Blade-stem welding | Generated by a circumferential cord around the stem and a straight cord to form the spur, turning into a partial fusion between the blade and the stem, which then become a single body (a final performance result very close to a 100% forged trowel). Competing lower quality products use moulded spurs welded on very few points, or smaller size cords. |
(Destructive) tests on welding | Warning: these tests focus on revealing quality differences between this product and other similar products, and produce destructive effects. After the test the trowel is in general damaged and not anymore usable. 1 – Quick test (Wizner test): lay the trowel on the floor, then mount with one foot on the blade and the other foot on the handle. The test compromises general product planarity. 2 – Test: firmly clamp the trowel, pull the handle out, slide a long metal tube in, and leverage until breaking |
Blade quality | Our carbon steel blade features may not be self evident but are inherent to the general tool quality. Perfectly flat – lay the trowel onto a flat surface, then press on blade’s edges. It won’t sway. Decreasing thickness – the blade’s thickness get progressively thinner while going from its base (near the handle) toward the tip. This grants the trowel greater flexibility and lightness. Most competing products are built on even-thickness blades. Monolythical – Once joined, blade and stem form a virtual single body. When hitting against a hard surface a round and silvery sound should be heard. |
Handle quality | We exclusively emply top quality beech wood. Lower quality/price products are equipped with mucj cheaper wood materials. The handle’s shape is symmetrical to its main axis, which – unlike so-called “ergonomical handles” – allows for an equally comfortable grip by hands of any size, with or without gloves, and independently on wrist positions. |
Bumper | Handle’s free end is protected by a polypropylene bumper. The metal bucket commonly used by our competition tends to come off, penetrate into the wood, or get deformed. |
